Indian E-Commerce Revolution

Indian E-Commerce Revolution with Increased Internet Use!

BANGALORE: What was once a dream is a reality today in India, with the rise in internet and mobile usage in just a decade! This dream was thought impossible or something that would take forever before it embraced the Indian society. Today India is one among the largest users of internet in the world.According to the reports by IAMAI, there was an estimate that the number of internet users in the country would grow to 243 million by June 2014, which is slowly a reality.

The Indian market has been witnessing an explosion with the sale of Smartphone with internet coverage for as much as $70. The country grows richer as the prices of mobiles reduce. The number of the internet users through phone has increased incredibly, which is just about to have an E-Commerce revolution.

This facility has come to the aid of many Indians as it has started making life much easier, with a lot of time to spare. Everything is accessible through the internet, hence buying, selling, trading, booking and searching are in the hands of the common man. As proof to this explosion, is the sale of high-end phones in villages where people are still scraping for basic necessities.
As people are learning the use of mobiles and internet, the demands of needs are growing as well. This is forcing big business players to localize products to reach wider markets. However this also affects smaller local players as there businesses are hurt and some are forced to shut down.In a recent event where the COO of Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg, visited India said that the country has the potential to grow as a market for social media. This is coming to truth as India is already about to over take U.S as the second largest user of internet next to china. India has more than 100 million Facebook users of which 80 million access their account form mobiles.

The growth of internet users has also benefitted the economy as it allows a platform for growth in e-commerce. Job opportunities have increased with the increase in larger businesses venturing into e-commerce.

The effect of this revolution is the adaptation of the older generation to modern-internet led life, giving them an easier life from the difficulty one they lived in. This is expected to increase economic growth of the country.
